The
man who first came to see and to really grasp
this important phenomenon was Gregor
Johann
Mendel (1822
– 1884), who began his research around 1856
starting with experiments on phenotypic
phenomena that occurred in sets of pairs contrary
to each other in appearance, either in size,
form or colour as phenotypic accessories of a
one and the same species. This way than he could
‘discover’ and proof that genetic
information exists, and exists as discrete units
occurring in pairs; the practical basic
condition for the
possibility of combination or of the pathway along
which combination regarding life can make sense
as we came to understand again and again later on.
