Introduction
The
Chabo or Japanese Bantam is a pure breed of
bantams that, as the name indicates already, has
been created in Japan. Specifically in Japan,
developing miniature forms is a common
specialisation. You might think, for example, of
the little Bonsai trees.
The
story is that somewhere in the past a poultry
breed has been imported in Japan from Indo-China,
better known now as the countries Thailand,
Burma,
Vietnam en Malaysia. The Japanese have developed
from that breed the Chabo. A small, graceful
bantam variety that with its short legs, large
crest and impressive tail is nevertheless a
striking appearance. And, if you also know that
this breed appears in many colours and varieties
you will immediately understand that the Chabo
attracts the true lovers of bantams.
